One of my favorite things about summer is when all of the delicious summer fruits start to show up in the grocery stores. I love to buy a big bag of beautiful peaches and then set them on my counter until they reach the perfect ripeness. There’s nothing quite like a fresh juicy peach.
If you love fresh summer peaches as much as I do, you absolutely must try this recipe for Fresh Peach Ice Cream. It’s a fantastic way to celebrate summer!
Recipe Courtesy of Janet Parker/Slightly Adapted by Winner Dinners
Serves about 12
3 cups peeled and mashed peaches
3 cups sugar
juice of 2-1/2 lemons
juice of 1 orange
1 pint whipping cream
4 cups milk
1 14-ounce can sweetened condensed milk
ice and rock salt (just a reminder so you don’t forget to buy them!)
Combine the peaches, sugar, lemon juice and orange juice. Let stand for 2-3 hours at room temperature. Pour into the freezing can of your ice cream maker and add the whipping cream, milk, and sweetened condensed milk. Freeze according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
