Fresh Berry Cooler

Fresh Berry Cooler

I just bought myself some new pink boots!  Do you like them?

I’m just kidding!  They’re not really mine, but I did wear them once.  You can see here that I needed to steady myself with the wall so that I wouldn’t fall over.

There’s sort of a funny story behind those boots.  Right before Christmas a couple of years ago, my cousin went to Hollywood and bought four pairs of boots.  They were all different, but they were similar in style and taste to the pink ones.  She bought one pair for herself, one for each of her two sisters, and one for their 81-year-old mother!   Apparently the store clerk didn’t think my cousin looked like the kind of person who would wear those boots because she said, “Do you know how to walk in those?”

“Oh, sure!” my cousin responded confidently.

Then on Christmas Eve my three cousins and their mom (my Aunt Doris) put on their new boots and some other “tasteful” clothing.  They all walked down the stairs and put on an entertaining performance for their dad (my uncle) who I’m told absolutely loved it.  The boots came out again at a post-Christmas family gathering which is when I had the opportunity to try them on for fun.

I would like to dedicate this post to my sweet Aunt Doris, who passed away on February 4, 2012, and was loved by everyone who knew her.

I haven’t posted a beverage recipe in awhile, and since it’s been so hot lately, I think this Fresh Berry Cooler will hit the spot.  It’s made with strawberries, blackberries, and raspberries.

You’ll also need some sparkling mineral water and some sugar.

Place 3 cups of the mixed berries in a blender and process until smooth.

Transfer to a small pitcher and stir in the sugar until dissolved.  Add the sparkling mineral water and stir until combined.  Chill and serve.
